Wake up and Loosen up with UTKATASANA

Hi friends,

"You cannot always control what goes on OUTSIDE,
But you can always control what goes on INSIDE "

Come join me today with "The CHAIR Pose".

Health tip of the day: UTKATASANA

                                                           Utkatasana

Utkatasana is called The Chair Pose or Fierce Pose. The name comes from the Sanskrit word Utkata meaning wild, fierce, above the usual or heavy and asana meaning posture.

How to do Utkatasana :

  • Stand erect on a flat surface.
  • Now get yourself into TADASANA. (Refer my previous post link for Tadasana: http://yourdailyyoga.blogspot.in/2017/12/time-to-get-healthy.html ).
  • Inhale slowly and raise your arms above your head perpendicular to the floor.
  • Now bend your knees exhaling slowly as much as you can. This forms a chair posture where in your thighs will be parallel to the ground.
  • Shift your weight to your heels and concentrate on your breathing.
  • Firm your shoulder blades against your back.
  • Stay in this pose for 20 to 30 seconds then get back to Tadasana.
  • Repeat the above steps for 5 to 10 minutes daily.

Benefits of Utkatasana :

  • Strengthens your spine. chest and shoulder muscles.
  • Improves your lung capacity and energizes your body.
  • Helps in reducing your flat feet.
  • Increases body flexibility.
  • Brings relief from stress and anxiety.

Important note :

If you have a knee injury or back pain please do not practise this asana.

"Your body is your temple. Keep it clean and healthy."

See you in another session on fitness with yoga. Until then eat well and stay well.
