Wake up and Loosen up with UTTANASANA

Hi friends,

Today we will see "The standing forward bend pose".

Health tip of the day: UTTANASANA

                                        Uttanasana

Uttanasana is a standing forward bend pose. This comes from the Sanskrit word Uttana meaning Intense stretch and asana meaning posture.

How to do Uttanasana :

  • Stand straight on a flat surface.
  • Position yourself in Tadasana. (Refer my previous post for Tadasana http://yourdailyyoga.blogspot.in/2017/12/time-to-get-healthy.html ).
  • Keep your hands on your hip and inhale slowly.
  • Now exhaling bend forward. While doing this to balance your body weight move your tailbone and hip slightly back as you band the rest of your body forward.
  • Let your hands rest on the ground. Your feet must be parallel to each other.
  • Root yourselves into your heels for better alignment.
  • Look through your legs and stay in this pose for few seconds.
  • Relax and get back to standing pose with your hands on your hips.
  • Repeat this asana for 5 to 10 minutes daily.

Benefits of Uttanasana :

  • Stretches your back, hip and hamstring.
  • Calms your body and mind.
  • Your lungs, kidneys and digestive system are activated.
  • This asana helps in curing asthma, blood pressure, infertility and osteoporosis.

Important Note :

If you have back, knee injuries or sciatica avoid practising this asana.

"Your body is your temple. Keep it clean and healthy."

See you in another 10 minutes session of fitness. Until then stay fit and fiddle.
