Wake up and Loosen up with AGNISTAMBHASANA

Hi friends,

Today we will see "The Burning Log Pose".

Health tip of the day: AGNISTAMBHASANA

                                  Agnistambhasana

Agnistambhasana is a sitting posture for meditation which means posture of stacked firewood. The name comes from the Sanskrit word Agni meaning Fire, Stambh meaning statue and asana meaning posture.

How to do Agnistambhasana :

  • Sit on a flat surface with spine erect and legs widespread.
  • Bend your knees and place your feet on the ground.
  • Shrug your shoulders a little and let the top of your arms move back.
  • Now place your left foot on right thigh such that it forms a semi-lotus pose.
  • Place your hands on the ground.
  • The next phase of the pose requires you to place pressure on your heels and spread the toes while ensuring that your torso is extended as much as possible and exhaling while folding forward from the groin.
  • Stay in this pose for 1 minute.
  • Repeat the same with right leg.
  • Do this asana for 5 to 10 minutes daily.

Benefits of Agnistambhasana :

  • Opens the hip region.
  • Stimulates abdominal parts.
  • Improves flexibility.

Important note :

If you have low back or knee injury avoid practising this asana.

"Your body is your Temple. Keep it clean and healthy."

See you tomorrow in another session on fitness with yoga. Until then stay fit and happy.
