Today we will see "The PLANK Pose".
Health tip of the day: KUMBHAKASANA
Kumbhakasana
Kumbhakasana is an arm balancing yoga asana. This comes from the Sanskrit word Kumbhak meaning Inhaling, retianing and exhaling and asana meaning posture. How to do Kumbhakasana :
- Sit on a flat surface in Vajrasana. (Refer my post to Vajrasana:http://yourdailyyoga.blogspot.in/2017/12/wake-up-and-loosen-up.html ).
- Now bend forward and place your arms on the ground and raise your buttocks so that you form the CAT pose. (Refer my post on Cat pose: http://yourdailyyoga.blogspot.in/2018/01/wake-up-and-loosen-up-with-marjariasana.html ).
- Slowly slide your feet backwards and raise the knees off the ground so that you are balancing your whole weight in your palms and toes of the feet.
- Keep your legs and hands straight. Do not bend your knees or elbows.
- Stay in this pose for 10 to 30 seconds.
- Relax and get back to cat pose.
- Repeat this asana for 5 to 10 minutes daily.
Benefits of Kumbhakasana :
- Strengthens your spine, shoulders, elbows and knees.
- Helps in building stamina.
- Improves your body muscles.
- Lightens abdominal muscles.
If you suffer from shoulder or back or knee injury avoid practising this asana.
